Hundreds of bricks were piled up on Butler Street in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville neighborhood Thursday morning as cleanup began after part of a building’s façade crumbled overnight.

A majority of the bricks had been piled up by midmorning, but dozens more remained strewn along the sidewalk in the 4300 block of the busy street.

The top section of façade fell from a building that houses Industry Public House, a UPMC primary care office and a spa called Phoenix. No one was injured, and no utilities were affected. Heavy machinery was brought in to help clear the scene.

“As many have probably heard, we sustained some damage to the brick facade above our restaurant in Lawrenceville overnight,” read a post on Industry’s Facebook page. The post confirmed that “everyone is safe and sound.”

It was unclear when the popular restaurant and bar might reopen.

A similar but more serious collapse happened earlier this year in the city’s South Side when the top portion of a brick building crashed onto the sidewalk below. The second story crumbled at the building along busy East Carson Street about 8:30 p.m. Aug. 12, though no one was injured.

The entire second floor of the building ultimately had to be pulled down, and part of East Carson Street was closed for more than a day.
