A Shadyside bank was Monday afternoon, Pittsburgh police said.

Police spokeswoman Cara Cruz said officers responded about 4:20 p.m. to a PNC bank in the 5900 block of Centre Avenue.

A man asked a teller for money and threatened that he had a weapon inside a plastic bag, Cruz said.

The man fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Pittsburgh Police Violent Crime Unit and Crime Scene Unit detectives, as well as the FBI, are investigating.

No description of the suspect was released.

Anyone with information about the robbery can contact city police at 412-323-7800.
