The Longvue Acres Garden Club is celebrating its 75th anniversary by planting 75 trees from 3 to 6 p.m. April 11 at the North Park horse show ring, 10201 Kummer Road, McCandless.

The group is partnering with the Allegheny County Parks Foundation and Tree Pittsburgh for the service project. The North Park rangers will provide a tutorial on how to plant the trees.

The tree planting is open to the community. Garden club members are encouraged to bring their children and grandchildren to participate in the planting process.

Several varieties of trees will be planted: red maple, sugar maple, black birch, shagbark hickory, Eastern redbud, witchhazel, hophornbeam, white pine, chokecherry and chestnut oak.

The event will be held rain or shine so participants should dress appropriately. Tools will be provided, but everyone is advised to bring their own gloves. Water will be provided for participants.

Mark your calendars: The garden club also is planning its annual Perennial Plant Sale on May 17 at Northmont United Presbyterian Church, 8169 Perry Highway.
