Pittsburgh International Airport is making changes to its security checkpoints.

Travelers who are enrolled in TSA PreCheck and are ticketed to fly out of Pittsburgh should proceed directly to the main security checkpoint starting May 5. There, they will receive expedited screening benefits as PreCheck members.

The alternate security checkpoint will mainly be open to screen non-TSA PreCheck travelers, the airport said.

Also, starting May 4, passenger screening checkpoints will be closed from 10:30 p.m. until 2:30 a.m. daily — and passengers will not be able to access the concourse or gate area of the airport.

Passenger screening canine teams will work in the checkpoint area to help speed up screening process, according to the airport.

“The canine teams are an important layer of security focused on identifying any passengers who may be carrying an explosive device,” the airport said.

When travelers arrive at the airport, they will be able to follow signs posted in the terminal explaining the changes and directing them to the TSA checkpoints. Any non-TSA PreCheck passengers who arrive at the main checkpoint will be redirected to the alternate checkpoint.
