The Pittsburgh Riverhounds and Detroit FC entered Friday’s game with not much separating them in the Eastern Conference standings.

They left exactly the same way.

The teams played to a scoreless draw, leaving the fifth-place Riverhounds (6-6-4) one point ahead of sixth-place Detroit (5-6-6) in the table.

The result might have been less than thrilling, but it did extend the Hounds’ unbeaten streak to five games (3-0-2). It was the third scoreless draw of the season for the Riverhounds.

Both teams had their scoring chances. Detroit’s best may have come in the 17th minute when Eric Dick turned away a rocket of a volley from Ates Diof. Dick made three saves for his eighth shutout of the season, seventh in league play.

The Riverhounds’ best chance may have come off a Detroit miscue in the 33rd minute. Goalkeeper Carlos Saldana accidentally punted a ball off the back of an attacking player and Augi Williams corraled the loose ball, but his shot sailed over the crossbar.

The Riverhounds return to action next Friday with a USL Jagermeister Cup group stage match on the road against the Portland Hearts of Pine.
