Recently Speaker Mike Johnson insinuated that the President Trump assassination attempt in Butler was a case of divine intervention. Really? That’s an insult to my intelligence, as well as any religious beliefs I may have.

Are we to believe that God stood by while a man hatched a plan to assassinate Trump, let him sneak past armed guards with a rifle, then at the last second diverted the bullet to kill an innocent bystander? I’d like to think the Lord and savior would have stepped in earlier.

Johnson seems to think that God and Trump are besties. That’s why God said, “Let he among you who is without sin cast the first stone, but since you and I are boys Don Don, you can chuck ’em like Mariano Rivera coming out of the bullpen.”

I guess God hasn’t stepped in to save his boy from the Jeffrey Epstein scandal because he’s jealous of Trump’s and Epstein’s friendship, and that’s why Johnson had to take matters into his own hands and send the House to an early recess.

Imagine your boss saying, “We have a big problem here at the company, so I think the best thing to do is to send you all home early with pay.”

This is the speaker of the House — the Republican Party’s best and brightest. I know one of God’s apostles was a traitor, but I don’t remember any nitwits.

If you follow Johnson’s logic, five guys changing a light bulb aren’t stupid, they’re just working in a mysterious way.
