It’s the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Here are some ideas of how to spend it in Pittsburgh.
Downtown Pittsburgh
Pittsburgh’s Independence Day celebration returns this year.
The traditional gathering at Point State Park will include patriotic music and food vendors from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., with the fireworks starting at dusk on Sunday.
A live broadcast can be heard on 100.1 FM KDKA of the 25-minute fireworks soundtrack. Viewers can watch the celebration from home live on WPXI-TV.

Rangos Giant Cinema reopens
In the documentary “The Search for Snow,” a meteorologist follows the patterns of weather systems from the French Alps to Iceland to New York State and explains different types of snow, where it falls and why. Viewers can also learn about its impact on vegetation, wildlife and people.
The Rangos has a 70-by-38-foot giant screen with 4K images, and surround sound with 45 speakers.

Music on the Mon
SouthSide Works kicks off “Music on the Mon” on Friday. Local singer-songwriter Bill Deasy will be performing at 7 p.m.
Also onstage that evening will be Ferdinand the Bull, an indie-folk band. The location is an outdoor venue named The North Lot. It’s a green space that overlooks the Monongahela River and is next to the Hyatt House on South Water Street.
Guests are invited to bring blankets.

Frick fashion exhibit
“Sporting Fashion: Outdoor Girls 1800 to 1960” opens Saturday at The Frick Pittsburgh in Point Breeze. It is the first exhibition to explore the evolution of women’s sporting attire in Western fashion. It features illustrations of women engaged in 13 sporting activities.
“Sporting Fashion” reconstructs a history of females in sport through the clothing and accessories that enabled them to compete.
There are bathing and bicycling garments as well as apparel for boxing and airplane piloting.

Album debut
Royal Honey will introduce its latest album at 7 p.m. on Friday at Thunderbird Café and Music Hall in Lawrenceville. The band’s latest “Sweet Heat” on The Vault Records has seven songs, including singles “The Tease” and “Cut N Run.”
Guests include The Cheats, The Borstal Boys, Slam Band and Sam, and Domenic Fusca.
