Another month is in the books! With July on its way, summer is flying fast already. Make sure to enjoy every moment with some of these events this weekend.

PSO Americana Concert

Get in the patriotic spirit ahead of the Fourth of July with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra’s annual event at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall and Museum in Oakland, which honors service members through music.

This concert will include music from stage and screen, including John Williams’ score for “The Patriot” and selections from “Porgy and Bess” and “West Side Story,” as well as other patriotic favorites.

The concert is free and open to the public, and it will begin at 7 p.m. Friday. To do the required registration, visit pittsburghsymphony.org.

Pride and Community at the August Wilson Center

The August Wilson African American Cultural Center will hold an all-ages Community Day event on Friday, followed by an 18+ Pride event later in the evening.

The Community Days event will run from 5 to 8 p.m., and the 18+ event will be going on from 8 p.m. to midnight. The events will celebrate the unique experiences and contributions of Black members of the LGBTQIA+ community in the region.

The evening will be filled with music, performances, art and more. Get tickets at awaacc.org.

Donnell Rawlings

Comedian, actor and podcast host Donnell Rawlings, who first came to prominence on “Chappelle’s Show” and has a popular podcast “The Donnell Rawlings Show,” will be at the Pittsburgh Improv for four shows this weekend.

Catch this hilarious comedian, with a standup special titled “A New Day” on Netflix, on Friday and Saturday night. Friday shows are 7 p.m. and 9:45 p.m., and Saturday shows are 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Babesburgh Bash

This Sunday (originally scheduled for Saturday but moved because of weather forecast) is the first “Babesburgh Bash,” a first-of-its-kind festival at the North Shore’s Allegheny Landing Park. Babesburgh, a new organization that brings women together, has held a number of events since its inception in 2023, but this is its biggest event yet. The party will go from 3 to 8 p.m.

The Bash will feature an array of women-owned breweries, as well as artisans, farmers and more, with networking and involvement opportunities as well.

It is a fun opportunity for women in the region to support other women. Tickets are available in two tiers. The “Taster” ticket comes with a souvenir glass that allows the holder to sample from more than 20 vendors. “Non-Taster” tickets are $20.

WYEP Summer Music Festival

The 25th WYEP Summer Music Festival will be held this Saturday. The day of music is free and open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and picnics to Schenley Plaza.

This year’s festival, starting at 3 p.m., will feature a range of artists, headlined by Australian indie rock trio Middle Kids. Other performers include Oh He Dead, Jade Bird, Ames Harding & The Mirage, Chariot Fade and Mani Bahia.
