Charges are expected to be filed against a Lawrenceville resident after Pittsburgh police removed at least 24 cats and kittens from a home along Foster Street.
A warrant was served Thursday after complaints of possible animal hoarding.
Officers, along with Animal Care and Control, retrieved the animals from deplorable conditions, according to Cara Cruz, public safety spokeswoman.
The home was later condemned.
The owner was on hand and surrendered the animals to Humane Animal Rescue on the city’s North Side, Cruz said.
The Red Cross was there to assist the home’s residents with temporary housing and other needs.
Police were tipped off to the possible hoard in July after firefighters responded to a call at the home.
