Motorists planning on taking the Squirrel Hill Tunnel should prepare to alter their routes, because starting Sunday night the tunnel will be down to one lane.

The single-lane closures will begin at 10 p.m. and last through 5 a.m. Friday morning, while inspections take place, according to a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation news release

Sunday through Tuesday travelers should expect the Parkway East’s outbound lanes to be impacted followed by additional lane closures to the outbound and inbound lanes Wednesday through Thursday, weather permitting, the release said.

PennDOT advises motorists to use caution while utilizing the open lane during inspections.
