The Block Northway, a large shopping plaza in Ross, is hosting a student art exposition featuring work from several local schools.

Through March 2, viewers will find artwork from seven North Hills institutions on the upper level of the mall between Lands’ End and DSW shoes. The display is free to view.

Jamie Pavlot, director of experience at The Block Northway, said the show is an annual event that has run for several years. It is an opportunity, she said, for community collaboration.

In a news release, The Block said the display includes paintings, sculptures, photographs, mixed-media pieces and other works. This year, Pavlot said the student artists show some “real talent.”

The show is featuring art by students from Blessed Trinity Academy, Hampton’s Central Elementary School, Hampton Middle School, Hampton High School, North Allegheny’s Marshall Middle School, North Hills Middle School and North Hills High School.

Pavlot said she is thrilled to show of the “skill and creativity” of local students, calling it a “captivating” experience.

“This exhibition is a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy the incredible artwork produced by talented young artists,” she said.

Lisa Woods, an art teacher at Hampton Middle School, said the 11 students featured from her school are “really excited” that their work is displayed.

The middle school has participated in the art show for several years, she said. This year, she selected the “most outstanding” work from among her students, which includes drawings, block prints and ceramic pieces.

“It’s just such a nice opportunity for kids to be able to see their artwork out in public where tons of people will be able to see it,” Woods said.

The display is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays.
