A handgun was found in the carry-on bag of an Ohio man going through security Sunday morning at Pittsburgh International Airport.

Justin Eugene Stanley, 47, of Negley, Ohio, was charged with carrying a firearm without a license, according to court records.

Transportation Security Administration officers saw the gun in Stanley’s carry-on bag at the airport’s main security checkpoint around 7:40 a.m.

The gun was loaded, a county police spokesman said. An image released by county police showed it next to five rounds.

County police determined Stanley did not have a valid concealed carry permit. The FBI was also notified, police said.

Stanley was arraigned Sunday and being held in the Allegheny County Jail on $3,000 bail, according to court records. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 4.

Passengers who bring firearms into an airport security checkpoint can face federal civil fines from the TSA up to $10,000. Repeated offenders can be fined up to $13,910.
