A man seen shooting from the back of a house in Greenfield surrendered to police without incident Sunday morning.

Police believe the weapon was an air rifle.

A neighbor witnessed a rifle sticking out of a window of a house at about 10:45 a.m. on Bigelow Street. Police were directed to the house the man was seen shooting from. Officers ordered the man to leave the house but he continued to shoot at cans in the backyard from inside the house.

SWAT officers responded when the man refused to leave and barricaded himself inside. He surrendered to police an hour later.

The man’s identity was not released.
