Republicans won the three Bridgeville Borough Council seats up for election on Nov. 7, defeating two incumbent Democrats in the process, according to unofficial Allegheny County results.
Receiving the most votes were GOP candidates Jason Sarasnick, 828; Jason Ferri, 722; and Shane Franchick, 692.
Council members Joseph Colosimo and Nino Petrocelli Sr. garnered 612 and 608 votes, respectively. Michael Neely, the other Democrat on the ballot, received 517 votes. He ran unsuccessfully for council two years ago, as well.
The winning candidates issued a combined statement:
“First, we want to acknowledge Nino Petrocelli and Joe Colosimo for their long service to the community. We thank the voters of Bridgeville for the faith they have shown in us. We know there will be challenges and ups and downs in our term ahead, but you have our pledge to strive to give all we can to make Bridgeville better for everyone.”
In 2021, two candidates from each party were elected to council: Democrats William Henderson and Justine Cimarolli, and Republicans Joseph Verduci and Bruce Ghelarducci.
