State troopers arrested a New Kensington man after an undercover drug investigation turned up 27 bricks of heroin or fentanyl and more than $10,000 in cash.
Raijon Deqae Wilson, 29, is charged with numerous drug-related counts in connection to a search warrant at a residence in the 1200 block of Woodmont Avenue in April.
According to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday, troopers on April 3 searched the Woodmont Avenue house where they believed Wilson was staying and trafficking drugs from. When police entered, Wilson tried to throw a blue suitcase out of a window, the complaint said.
Inside the suitcase, police found a loaded pistol, more than $10,000 in cash, crack cocaine, a scale, bags for packaging and several pills, the complaint said. Troopers said some of the cash that was seized from the suitcase matched serial numbers from previous undercover drug buys from Wilson.
Another criminal complaint, also filed against Wilson on Wednesday and in connection to the April raid, stated that authorities found 27 bricks of suspected heroin or fentanyl within the house, as well as two guns, ammunition and marijuana.
Narcotics detectives typically estimate a brick’s street value at about $500.
Wilson is a convicted felon and is not legally allowed to own or possess a firearm, authorities said.
Wilson was denied bail Thursday and is being held in the Westmoreland County jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled July 31 before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr.
