Devin Adams, nearing the end of his first term on Plum School Board, resigned from his position this month after he and his family moved out of the district.
Headed to the Norwin School District, Adams, who previously served as the Plum board’s vice president, said his time on the board was “formative,” and he expects to become involved in his new community.
The remaining eight board members must appoint someone to fill his seat by April 16. The new member’s term would run until Dec. 1. If the new member does not choose to run in the November for election, the board would have to temporarily fill the seat again.
In the meantime, board members have a pool of people interested in serving, with 11 candidates seeking nomination to the four board seats up for election this year. Only three of those running are current school board members.
The board is accepting letters of interest until April 2 for potential candidates and will conduct interviews at a public meeting on April 8.
According to school board Secretary Jennifer Macro, the board will then hold a special voting meeting April 16 to appoint Adams’ replacement.
