A summer Saturday is always a good time for a trip to Ligonier to do a little shopping, have a meal and see the sights.
There was added incentive for visitors on July 22, as the Ligonier Valley Chamber of Commerce hosted a Summer in Ligonier Block Party.
A block of Main Street east of Diamond Park was closed to vehicle traffic for demonstration and activity tents and performance space.
Special features included the Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s “Fur, Feathers & Scales” mini-museum, a program by The Bug Lady, demonstrations by the HT Flyers jump rope team and caricatures by artist Andy Balko.
Roswell McNutt and Leo Fine of the Pittsburgh Glass Center offered glassblowing demonstrations, while Ryan Washlaski, Becky Seigh and Tina Moore of Flow N’at fire troupe showed off their fire-handling and hula hoop skills.
Area churches entertained the kids with a fishing booth, balloon animals, building blocks and other fun.
The day also included merchant sidewalk sales and a children’s art display and activities at Main Exhibit Gallery and Art Center.
