A tutorial on how to stabilize stream banks will be offered during a walking tour at Irwin Park from 6 to 7 p.m. May 7.
Officials from the Westmoreland Conservation District and Irwin Borough will show residents how to deal with stream bank erosion.
The conservation district and the borough joined forces in a stream bank restoration project in 2022 along the tributary of Tinker’sRun, which flows into Brush Creek in Irwin.
Kylie Shultz, conservation district watershed specialist, will show those attending several stabilization techniques used in that project, including regrading, adding rip-rap, and planting trees and shrubs.
Shultz will inform property owners what work is acceptable, the required permits and when to contact the conservation district for assistance.
