The Westmoreland Intermediate Unit will host a Tech Trek event for families with students in grades three to eight from 6 to 8 p.m. on May 2.
Educational technology company CodeJoy will engage attendees in a live robot television show, where students will learn to write code and control real robots. Families will then embark on a community walk.
During the walk, participants will create step trackers and note the various pieces of technology in the environment around them. Attendees are asked to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring an electronic device, such as a laptop or tablet.
Registration for the event is required and can be completed on the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit’s website, wiu7.org, by clicking on the “Events” tab and selecting “Remake Learning days: Community Tech Trek.”
The event will start in the Fred Rogers Room of the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit, 102 Equity Drive in Hempfield.
