Just in time for summer getaways, Arnold Palmer Regional Airport is giving local travelers even more reasons to bypass the headaches of larger airports. Starting May 8, Spirit Airlines will launch daily nonstop flights to Orlando and Myrtle Beach, plus convenient Thursday and Sunday nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale.

The Fort Lauderdale route arrives as Spirit Airlines rebounds from bankruptcy — a development that Gabe Monzo, executive director of the Westmoreland County Airport Authority, sees as particularly significant.

“When an airline comes out of something like that and almost immediately adds service to your airport, that tells you something,” Monzo said. “It’s a sign of confidence in the airport, confidence in the region, and confidence in the community.”

While these new destinations are exciting for travelers, they’re just the latest reason why more people are discovering the advantages of flying from Arnold Palmer Regional. Nestled in the picturesque heart of Westmoreland County, the airport delivers what major hubs simply can’t match: simplicity, convenience, and genuine local charm.

At Latrobe’s airport, you’ll experience shorter security lines, swift and friendly baggage check, and completely free parking. No marathon walks through endless terminals, no shocking parking fees, and no traffic nightmares coming or going. It’s hassle-free travel where even the farthest parking spot puts you just steps from check-in.

Whether you’re planning a family adventure to Orlando’s theme parks, a relaxing golf getaway in Myrtle Beach, or a tropical escape to Fort Lauderdale, now is the perfect time to book. And with potential new destinations on the horizon, Latrobe could soon connect you to even more corners of the country.

“We’re growing,” Monzo said. “It’s stress-free travel. That’s what we offer and it’s what keeps people coming back, and we’re doing it without losing the feel of who we are — a regional airport with world-class service and a hometown heart.”
