U.S. Sen. John Fetterman described the flurry of development deals announced at Tuesday’s Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit in Pittsburgh as “huge wins and investments” in the state.

Companies attending the summit at Carnegie Mellon University, organized by U.S. Sen. Dave McCormick, R-Pittsburgh, announced plans to invest more than $90 billion in data centers, energy and power infrastructure, and workforce and artificial intelligence training across Pennsylvania.

“Senator McCormick and I are in different parties, but we’re both Team PA,” Fetterman said Tuesday evening in a post on X.

“We believe in energy independence and the transformative potential of AI,” he added. “It comes together in Pennsylvania — huge wins and investments in our commonwealth and nation that we can all support.”

In a statement to TribLive late Wednesday afternoon, a spokesperson said, “Senator Fetterman is glad that some of the most important companies in cutting-edge technology are recognizing what Yinzers have known for a long time: Pittsburgh and Western PA have the hardworking people, world-class academic research and energy infrastructure to win any technological race it enters.”

The spokesperson added that Fetterman is “glad to see these announcements and looks forward to help ensure these investments benefit the region as a whole and don’t come at the expense of taxpayers.”
