Pitt men’s basketball has scheduled two matchups with Villanova, renewing a former Big East rivalry. Villanova will host the first game in Philadelphia on Dec. 13. The Wildcats will visit Pittsburgh during the 2026-27 season.

“We are excited to add the Villanova series to our schedule for the next two seasons,” coach Jeff Capel said. “We were focused on adding another high-caliber nonconference series to our schedule this offseason. The Pitt-Villanova rivalry speaks for itself, and we look forward to adding to the history of the series over the next two seasons.”

Pitt leads Villanova, 33-32, in the all-time series, including 22-5 at the Petersen Events Center. The Panthers have won six straight against the Wildcats and are up 13-6 in the series since the 2000-01 season.

On March 3, 2013, the last time the teams met, Pitt trailed by nine before storming back to a 73-64 overtime win. James Robinson hit a 3-pointer with 33 seconds left in regulation to tie the game and added another in the last 30 seconds of overtime to help the Panthers take the win. Talib Zanna scored nine of his 14 points in overtime and grabbed a then-career-high 19 rebounds. Tray Woodall also added a double-double with 13 points and 11 assists.
