A slow start to the 2024 season for the Pittsburgh Riverhounds has dragged on into the middle of June.

Michee Ngalina scored twice in the first 17 minutes of the match, and the Riverhounds were unable to mount a comeback, losing 2-0 at Hartford Athletic on Saturday night.

The Riverhounds (3-6-5) are winless in their last six league games (0-3-3). They have been shut out eight times and have scored a total of 11 goals.

Before Saturday night, the Riverhounds were 5-0-1 all-time in Hartford.

In the sixth minute, Ngalina streaked up the left side, got behind the Riverhounds defense, collected a long lob pass and scored.

In the 17th minute, Ngalina finished off a cross from Deshane Beckford to make it 2-0. Ngalina punctuated each goal with a roundoff back handspring.

The Riverhounds outshot Hartford, 14-7, and hit a pair of posts during their comeback attempt.

Jacob Randolph, a 6-foot-4, 235-pound goalkeeper, made his Riverhounds debut, making two saves.

The Riverhounds play a midweek game this week, hosting Louisville City at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Highmark Stadium.
