For the second consecutive year, the West Virginia baseball squad earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
The Mountaineers will head to the regional round in Tucson, Ariz., as the No. 3 seed.
West Virginia (33-22) secured an at-large bid and plays No. 2 Dallas Baptist (44-13) at 3 p.m. Friday, on ESPN2.
Within the NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, there are 16 regional brackets, each featuring four-team, double eliminations.
The winners of each bracket advance to a best-of-three super regional, with hosts set to be announced June 4.
From there, the eight victors play in the College World Series, which begins June 14.
The back-to-back NCAA appearances are the first by West Virginia since the Mountaineers made four straight from 1961-64.
Overall, it marks the 15th selection in program history and fourth under skipper Randy Mazey, who’s led West Virginia since 2013, guiding the Mountaineers to NCAA Regional appearances in 2017 and ‘19.
No. 1 Arizona (36-21) and the No. 4 Grand Canyon Antelopes (34-23) comprise the rest of the Tuscon Regional, hosted by the Wildcats.
Last year, the Mountaineers’ season came to an end with a Regionals loss to No. 1 seed and host Kentucky.
